Most Dangerous Athlete?

Filed under: The Sporting Life, Tomfoolery — cipher @ 12:12 am

Hypothetically speaking, let’s say you are at a party. Somehow, you have done or said something to a professional athlete that has caused that athlete to become quite enraged with you.  Both of you are still at the party (and you are not dead — yet) and you know that if you see this professional athlete again, well, let’s just say that bad things will happen unto you.

The question: which professional athlete would you consider to be the most dangerous in this situation? Not including Mike Tyson, that’s too easy, and let’s keep Ray Lewis out of this just to see some original answers. And show your work, people! Full credit will not be given for answers only.

Good for a black-hearted laugh after busting out of the $60 daily NLHE donkament at TI, I present Dr. Pauly

Benjo looked stunned and couldn’t believe that hand. We had a last longer for $20 and had swapped 10% of each other. He said that he mucked a Queen and the guy next to me said that he folded an Ace. Hearing that I had less outs always makes the beat feel much better. It’s like finding out that your cheating girlfriend sucked 3 more cocks than you had originally thought.

Then, it was onto Bellagio:

Have I Mentioned that I Love Deuce-to-Seven?

Filed under: Teh Pokers — cipher @ 3:32 pm

If I haven’t mentioned that, it’s true. Why? There are still ubermonkeys for the having there. To wit, the following. Although it is always nice to flop the stone cold nuts. How could I have milked this customer more? Did I bet it aggro enough but not too aggro? I look to your NLHE expertise, Mingsters, after the break: (more…)

WSOP Ends Today

Filed under: Teh Pokers, Tomfoolery — cipher @ 9:52 am

The final table of the WSOP main event starts at noon Vegas time today. The 9 finalists are a pretty mixed lot, check out Tao of Poker for brief bios of each of the guys playing today. One that stands out is “Rain” Khan, a PokerStars maniac who apparently once played 43 SNG’s simultaneously. Stars banned his account after that on the grounds that he had to be a bot, until Khan videotaped himself  playing 26 SNG’s  and sent it to support, at which point he got unbanned. The audio sync on the video is pretty bad but if this guy was playing 24 SNG’s at a time for 6-7 sessions a day, I can only imagine how burned out he’s going to be in a year or two. Apparently his conduct at the table in the WSOP this year has practically defined “immature.” Some of these internet players apparently are in dire need of a serious RL asskicking.

ESPN is airing the final table live for $19.99 (on some sort of delay) if you’re interested. They are not playing on this table, although they really should be. If you’re wondering why the rail on ESPN’s feature table is so fat this year, it’s because of the HDTV cameras in the rail. Nobody makes 90-degree angle connectors for the cables for the HDTV cameras, so they had to leave a ton of room in the rail for the thick HD cables to bend. Personally, I like last year’s table better, this one is a weird shape in addition to being fat railed. To each his own, I guess.

There should be no question that 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball is a sick effing game. I’m certain that’s why it is my favorite game in all pokerdom right now. I’ve gotta scratch together $5k for the WSOP event in this next year. I’ve got a year to do it, right? Right? Enjoy the following hand after the break:

Linky! (-ed)

I know, it’s everywhere, but if you haven’t seen it yet, you must watch it now.

It’s a scene from one of the cattle call sessions of another Simon Cowell show, called “Britain’s got talent.” People do acts, there are three judges, 2-men and a woman, blah blah blah, you know the drill.

What I want to know is what really REALLY makes this video? Some may say it’s the guy’s teeth. For me, the female judge’s expression - you’ll know what point I’m talking about - is worth the price of admission.

Make sure your air filter system is fully working, though. Seems to get a little dusty in the room when this plays.
