Palfrey Needs the Monies

Filed under: Politics — Stevo @ 2:16 pm

Since the government has seized her assets and prevented her from selling certain others (her phone records among other more obvious ones), what does she have left? Words. Names. Stories. An exclusive media deal seems to be just the thing to pay for her legal defense (from the government). From the CNN article:

“For me, this is an absolute necessity since the government has placed me in the untenable position whereby I do not have sufficient monies to undertake this extraordinarily expensive task on my own,” she said. [emphasis added]

I’m guessing she’s a firm believer in fair and open markets. Is the Government?

I’m working on the trip report from the Tickler. Patience, please.

Read between the lines…

Tell me, just from the description, is this receiver white or black?

“A No. 3 receiver, and _________ should slide right into that role. Though _______ isn’t as explosive as teammate ________ , he runs crisp routes, he isn’t afraid to go over the middle and he doesn’t drop passes he should catch.”

I love the draft.

Bill to Legalize Online Poker Introduced Today

Filed under: Politics, Teh Pokers — cipher @ 12:57 pm

The Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act was introduced by Barney Frank in the US House of Rerpresentatives today. The bill seeks to legalize online poker subject to regulation (and taxation, of course). Rep. Frank is the Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, so it’s EV+ that the bill will be forwarded to the entire House for an up/down vote. Hearings on the bill are tentatively scheduled for June.

Either way, teh cipher thinks he speaks for all Mingizens when he says “Bring on the fish! Hyachachachachachacha!”

Why Would Someone Quit Law to Work in the Shop?

Maybe only a non-lawyer would ask this question. “Shop Class as Soulcraft” might help to explain.

Instant Kardma Smack Ya Right In The Head

Filed under: Teh Pokers — cipher @ 1:21 pm

Tom is a guy I’ve met a couple of times, he won a WPT event (Reno? 2005?) I think. Anyway, he wrote up an interesting little diddy about an angle shooter going down in flames. Instant kardma. Enjoy.

Sopranos - My prediction

Filed under: Uncategorized — Bung @ 9:47 am

Ok, it’s not really my prediction but it makes good sense. So here we go. Bobby’s gonna get tagged for the murder he just commited. Janice will know that Tony ordered the hit. She is gonna be way pissed, because now you’re messing with her “perfect” family that she has put a lot of effort into making. The Soprano women are very strong, in that Tony’s mom tried to have him whacked. And we all know that Janice put a cap in Richie Apprille’s ass for hitting her. So in the end, Janice is going to take out her brother for selling Bobby down the road on that hit. Stevo, just shut up and don’t whine about me posting it. You’ve had like 5 years to get your crap together and watch the best show on television.

I Would Not Want to Play Poker With This Guy

Filed under: Teh Pokers — cipher @ 7:28 pm

Because I suspect that there’s not a bet that I could make at him that would ever make him lay down his hand. Why?

He’s 33 and made about $2 Billion (yes, with a B) last year by shorting natural gas futures. 317% ROI for the former Enron employee. That’s all liquid $ too.

I wonder if he needs a poker table….

I love Camille Paglia

The always intellectually provocative “Post-Feminist Feminist” writes for Salon again.   This “mail-call” article does not disappoint.  There’s grist for the mill, and well worth the read.
