So I had an unusual Friday. I had a dinner meeting downtown at a fancy top-of-the-skyscraper conference center. On my way, I decide to try to pick up some car parts that FedEX Ground attempted to deliver to my place of employ. I had learned that the place to go is the big FedEX house you can see from I-70 near downtown, access via Pendleton Pike. Pendleton Pike is where discriminating people go for car parts, titty shows, illicit poker games, hookers and blow. It is a rainy Friday afternoon, but from what I can see most of those businesses seem largely unaffected by the current economic gloom. The homely young lady acting as security guard at the FedEX facility has long golden mullet tresses framing two eye-bulging hickies. She helpfully points me to the package pickup hotline. I try not to stare. Unfortunately, my package is yet to return to the barn, and its eta would put me well off schedule. The trip is not a complete waste, however. I learned that right next door to that FedEX facility is the Pick-A-Part junkyard. I’m thinking they don’t have any MR2’s, but it’s good to know where that is. (more…)
Took a quickie trip out west to watch some of the final table of the WSOP and do a little poker playing. Got a killer rate at the MGM ($59/night) and had a free flight on Southwest thanks to frequent flyer miles. So the trip was cheap to start off with. Flew out there on Sunday the 9th and back on Wed the 12th. Here’s a brief trip report after the jump:

I’ll post an interesting poker hand after the jump so it won’t eat up a lot of front page space. But the question is this: was it a mistake to check it down ($-wise and theoretically, as it’s clear that UTG/Villian 2 wouldn’t have called in this particular hand), or is that just good sportsmanship in this particular situation?

That said, had the annual physical today. Aside from needing to lose weight (ORLY?), everything else was five by five.
